In 2000 Ben undertook a work placement with REM as part of his final semester at university. Since then he has worked in the charity sector whilst keeping in touch with the REM team. In January 2010 Ben joined REM as one of their newest team members, working predominantly on the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and business development. Ben has also worked on the Bristol Half Marathon, Bristol 10k for a number of years, International Festival of the Sea 2005, Sport Relief, Prom on the Close and Bristol Harbour Festival.

Outside of work Ben keeps busy with his young family and a range of charitable activities. He is a Past President of the Bristol Junior Chamber, a member of The Anchor Society and West of England Initiative and Chairman of Young Bristol, a city wide youth charity.
