Richmond
Event Management Ltd
Richmond
Event Management (REM) has enjoyed a record breaking calendar
of summer events in 2008. The team have been travelling all
over the country producing and managing some of the UKs highest
scale productions.
Amongst
many highlights, our managing director Mike, project managed
Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture “Tall Ships
Race”. With a small team from the Bristol office and expert
advice from our sister company “The Event Safety Shop”
- the event formed a major highlight of the city’s year
of celebration. Working with the local council’s Major
Events Team the operation saw 1,000,000 visitors flock to Liverpool
to see the greatest fleet of tall ships assembled in European
waters in 2008.
Further
additions to our spectacular summer included the “Meet
your Navy” Extravaganza at HMS Naval Base Portsmouth and
the two day Danson Festival in Bexley Heath. Not to mention
our ongoing involvement to Bristol’s running events, the
continuation of our long standing relationship with British
Waterways to produce Crick Boat Show and the good weather we
always enjoy during Glasgow River Festival – now firmly
established as one of Scotland’s biggest outdoor events.
REM
Proven Success
Our
efforts have not gone unrecognised and the team received the
excellent news only weeks after our summer event season was
drawing to an end – that we had been awarded a five year
contract for the Event and Site Management services of Danson
Festival.
REM wins
five year contract with Danson Festival
The Danson Festival, organised by the London Borough of Bexley,
has awarded a five year event management contract to Richmond
Event Management. The two day community-based festival, which
takes place annually in July, has five stages and attracts over
25,000 people per day.
The contract follows REM’s successful delivery of the
festival over the last two years. The company was able to deliver
better value for money for Bexley Council, using its budget
management experience to bring together a top level production
with a varied entertainment programme that reflected the diversity
and depth of talent in the local community.
REM was able to return Danson park, awarded ‘London’s
Best Park’ in 2007 by London in Bloom, to a pristine condition
after the event and the entire production maintained the highest
standards of health and safety throughout the weekend, earning
special praise from the local Police.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with
the London Borough of Bexley,” says Jim Davey, REM’s
Project Manager for the event. “The longevity of the contract
allows REM to further develop the cultural programmes of activity
at the event, in a strategically important part of London. It
gives us a unique opportunity to grow the festival and support
our client in their aim of celebrating and developing the cultural
wealth in the area.”
